The Ice House and the Brownstone Inn
We stopped at the free parking lot on North Main and walked over to the Ice House. It is a massive stone building that is slowly falling apart. The roof is gone and large trees grow inside it. Quigley's Castle
We recently checked out Quigley's Castle, a unique attraction South of Eureka Springs that is often advertised as the Ozarks' strangest dwelling. It was a very interesting place, and the surrounding gardens were lovely. For some history behind the home, check out their website.

Hogscald Hollow and Beaver Lake
The weather has been hot and humid lately, so we've been doing our best to try and find local watering holes where we can keep cool. We've been to Beaver Lake and Hogscald a few times, and have seen some amazing scenery, including a number of gorgeous waterfalls and stunning rock bluffs.
2008 Independence Day Parade
The 2008 Independence Day Parade in Eureka Springs was our best yet. Included in the parade were festive walkers, wavers, and musicians, art cars and drag queens, as well as a plethora of political hopefuls. The kids were tossed lots of candy. We caught it near the Carnegie Library on Spring Street.
Two Trails and a Fawn
We recently took a small hike through town using the in-town trails system. We parked our car at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, and then walked down the Magnolia Trail, which takes you as far as Harding Spring. From there we walked up Spring Street and past the library to the concrete steps leading to the Crescent Trail, which leads back to Crescent Drive. full post »
